“It was all a dream, I used to read word up magazine.”R.I.P Biggie Smalls
So how did we get here? Well, technically we should have been here years ago, but due to a busy work schedule, my two boys, and managing a household we are just getting started.
Where was I before You Really Redd It?
Being a teacher is definitely not a 9-5 job. It requires bringing our work home on a weekly or sometimes nightly basis. Other than that my life consisted of a repeating cycle. If you’ve ever seen the movie “Groundhog’s Day” that’s literally what my life feels like. In more detail, Wake up, make the kids breakfast, get ready, drop off the little one to daycare, head to work with my oldest son (he attends the same school I teach at), drop him off to his class, teach, shower, takeout or cook (mostly takeout), work on the next day’s lesson while hubby does bath time, get the kids to bed, watch a t.v. show if I’m not still working late, scroll through Tic Tock videos laughing my heart out (this is what I consider “me time”), then finally sleep. What were my weekends like you may ask? Simple Binging Netflix series or finding a juicy documentary, chasing behind my two kiddos, church, then lesson planning for Monday morning Sunday Night.
Why I decided to create “You Really Read It”
First off I love to share my experiences with others. There were times in my life where I read someone else’s blog myself and got comfort, understanding, and insight about different things that I was going through personally. Simply put, I want to be that for someone. I have always enjoyed writing specifically about things I am most passionate about. So why not blog about my life, my family, my dreams, my struggles, my marriage? Also personally speaking, this blog is for me first. If no one else reads this (which I pray that doesn’t happen), it is a way for me to get my thoughts out. It’s therapy for me. Sometimes writing about our personal experiences gives us a solution or a revelation that we were not expecting. I needed something for me that was not about being a wife, or a mother, or a teacher. Although I may write about those topics, this is a part of me that I can have complete control over. That is why I chose to create this blog.
What do I hope to accomplish?
My dream is to provide a safe space for people like you and me. A space where we can be vulnerable and safe. I want to show people that we don’t have to be perfect people or get it right all the time. In our day and age we often only see the happy times, the successful moments, but we often don’t get a chance to see the failures. The failures are more important than the success, because it is the failures that get you to the successful moments.
So with that being said, I truly hope you enjoy this blog and please share it with someone you love.
Peace and Love,
